Take Action: Simple Ways to Protect the Environment
Reclaimed Table is proud to build sustainable furniture. From the eco-friendly materials we use, including reclaimed wood and low VOC finishes, to our tools that have been resurrected from a past life, to the fact that our furniture is built to last, we believe in doing our part to be kind to our home, planet Earth.
Currently, an anti-environmental agenda is being pushed through the White House. According to Myron Ebell , who assisted Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency transition team until inauguration took place, “The U.S. will clearly change its course on climate policy.” All EPA contracts, grants, and interagency agreements waiting for review were halted. The EPA was also barred from communicating through press releases or social media. Furthermore, Trump is set to pull out of the Paris Agreement , an agreement between 175 parties around the world that would reduce greenhouse gas emissions in order to limit global warming. The official White House website deleted almost all mentions of climate change immediately after Trump was sworn in, as well. The list goes on and on.
Below, we’ve compiled our own list of ways to take a stand against these policies that cause serious threats to our environment.

-Take action with The Sierra Club , the country’s largest grassroots environmental organization. Whether you donate , fundraise , or sign one of their petitions , there are plenty of ways to get involved with this remarkable group.
-Join the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) in their fight to ensure we all have access to clean air, clean water, and healthy communities. Like The Sierra Club, they also have petitions that are easy to sign on their website. Donations are accepted, as well. Currently, all donations up to $250,000 are being doubled, so now’s the time to give!
– MoveOn.org hosts a variety of progressive petitions and accepts donations , as well.

-Join the Scientist’s March on Washington taking place on Earth Day, April 22nd. Much like the Women’s March on Washington, this march will allow all those concerned to come together and make their voices heard.
-Become involved with Waterkeeper Alliance , an organization that helps protect everyone’s right to clean water throughout the world. Join them by donating, attending an event, or even becoming a partner.
-Call your state senator and express your opinions. Whether you share your views on the Keystone or Dakota Access Pipelines or Trump’s pick for EPA administrator, Scott Pruitt , a big proponent of the fossil fuel industry, staying silent is not an option. Yesterday, Democrats on the Senate committee boycotted Pruitt’s confirmation hearing. We need to encourage them to continue this fight and encourage our other senators to join them.
No matter what you choose, let those in power know how vital it is that we use science to support the health of our planet, ourselves, and our economy. The future of our children and our planet depend on it.
