The upper sash must be lowered to approximately 12" above the sill.  Then follow the same procedure to tilt in.

Picture C

SASH REMOVAL - Tilt sash to a horizontal position.  Raise the lower pivot corners of the sash up past the
mid-point of the window.

Picture D

The balance mechanism will fully retract.  Keep raising upward until
pins lift out of carriers and can be removed.

REINSERTION - Align pivot pins in the proper channel above the carriers.  Pins will automatically engage the carrier. Pivot sash in place.

How to Remove Old Sash

How to Install Rim Tilt

Remove Sash 1

STEP 1. Carefully remove inside stops
and the head parting stop.  If there are
no jambliners, lift out the bottom Sash and proceed with STEP 2.  If there are jambliners, skip STEP 2 and go to
STEP 3.

Install Rim Tilt 1

STEP 1.   Apply jambliners to jambs, with bottom touching the sill and "flange" side touching the blind stop.  Press jambliners and drive screws until the head is flush with liner.  Readjustment of screws may be necessary during
STEP 3.

Remove Sash 2

STEP 2.  Remove side parting stop, and then the upper sash.  If the window has ropes and pulleys, cut the ropes and remove the pulleys.

Install Rim Tilt 2

STEP 2.  Install sash brackets in upper and lower sash as shown above.

Remove Sash 3

STEP 3.  If your existing window has jambliners, once you have removed the inside and head parting stops, the jambliners and both sash can be rotated from the opening as a unit.  Be sure that all staples and similar fastening devices have first been removed from the jambliner.

Install Rim Tilt 3

STEP 3.  Insert upper sash into opening in full tilt position.  Align pivotpins in the proper channel above carriers.  Allow pins to drop into carriers.  Pivot sash into place.  Repeat for lower sash.  Then reinstall the inside trim stops and head parting stop.
